BBC to Best Selling Author
Founder of the BWN / Insiders Mandie Holgate met Chris Penhall when Chris was working on the BBC Essex David Monk show. Wind things forward a few years later and Mandie hosted the BBC Essex’s 30th Birthday party at her house. Current presenter of the morning show Ben Fryer ended up in Mandie’s hot tub when James Whale threw him in! So to say Mandie and Chris have known each other pretty well for years is an understatement.
Over the years Chris’s talents have helped Mandie raise awareness on mental health and small business and now as a radio and podcast presenter and best selling author it’s great that the 2 paths have crossed again.
Like many with exceptional careers before their own businesses Chris raised some good questions about what we can (and can’t) promote on this award winning website. As you’d expect, expert researcher Chris asks all the right questions. So we thought we would answer those and talk about Chris’s latest book.

I’m currently writing my 6th novel and can’t quite believe that after achieving my childhood dream in 2019 when I won the Choc Lit Search for a Star Competition with my first novel, The House That Alice Built, I’d be saying that!
It took me a long while to get here, but I never gave up on my dream! I had my own author event at Clacton Library for The House That Alice Built as part of the Essex Book Festival in 2021, and have interviewed authors for the festival this year and in 2022, and have on-air experience at BBC Essex.
My 5th book was released in July and is available in paperback, e-book and audio to order online from Amazon, Waterstones, Foyles, Blackwells, Audible and other outlets.
